My Meet and Greet with Rick Springfield by Brenda New
I am an admitted Rick Springfield fan and a recent highlight was my trip to Nashville to see him at the Wildhorse Saloon. Although I have already seen him 3 times this year in Florida where I live, I just had to make the trip to Nashville for the first time where I stayed at the Gaylord Palms Opryland Hotel. Magnificant.
I was a huge fan in the 80's then lost track of Rick. While in Las Vegas in the early 90's, I discovered that Rick Springfield was in a production called EFX at the hotel where I was staying, the MGM. Of course I immediately purchased front row seats for the last night I was to be there. All week long I sang "Jessie's Girl" in preparation for seeing him.
On the morning of the day that I had tickets for, I checked with the desk to make certain that my seat was still there (as if it would disappear). While waiting for the attendant I noticed a sign that said "Rick Springfield will not be performing in tonight's performance". What? You have got to be kidding me. "Excuse me. Excuse me. What happened?", I frantically asked the attendant. To the huge disappointment of my ears, I was told that Rick broke his arm in the performance the night before. As I placed my head on the counter and pounded my fist in disappointment, I thought, "Just my luck" not even considering poor Rick and his broken arm.
I again lost track of Rick until I purchased an HD television this year and saw his performance in Rockford that was fabulous, which I immediately purchased online to play over and over again.
I also discovered his website RickSpringfield.com, and saw that he was still performing, which led me to my my meet and greet in Nashville which was to be attended by me and my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. This is another story. I recently ended my long relationship with the schmuck and bravely went to Nashville by myself on Valentine's Day and braved all the couples walking around hand in hand, arm in arm, just to see Rick and have the meet and greet. My photo says it all, doesn't it?
What does this have to do with jewelry, you ask? Well, I did wear one of my Swarovski crystal designer necklaces. Doesn't that count?
